These photos are from our town's Independence Day fireworks.

Great theme, Anders! Took me a bit to find something that would work, but came up with these. The first - I was up on the wall at Kidwelly Castle in Wales, when I leaned over and saw this beautiful bride. Her photographer wasn't the only one taking pictures!


My second shot I took from my bedroom window on the 4th of July. The neighbors were shooting off fireworks and they were too pretty to pass up:


And my last - while walking thru New York City, I saw this glass with a bit of wine sitting on the wall. I wonder what the story is behind it.

This was a great theme, Anders! I very much enjoyed going through my pictures to find just what I wanted.







The contrail of the space shuttle in the evening light. I barely had time to grab my camera let alone a tripod so it is a bit blurry. Kinda firework-y, I think.




A drink to celebrate with. Coca-cola, sweetened coconut syrup (which makes the foam) and white rum.




An orchid from the annual Venice Orchid Society Show, its name is Firecracker. We were down there for 2 months and it stayed in bloom the whole time. I think I may have shown this one before; it's a favorite of mine. Broke my heart to leave it so I wired it into a pocket of a palm tree, where orchids grow, and hoped it would survive on the natural rain and sun.

I am not a carnival person, but a few years ago I did venture to our carnival procession to take a few photos and here is one of them. It is quite a big thing in the area where I live in Switzerland, being a catholic Kanton

These candles were part of our Christmas celebrations. 
I took this photo on 1st August this year on our national day in Switzerland. In the distance there was a firework display and this was the effect it had against the surrounding trees. Sorry for the pixel storm on the photo, but I only had my iPhone with me for taking photos.

The theme today is Fireworks Or Celebrations. This Ive come to experience is very difficult to shoot due to the brief period they offer a person to shoot them. But on the other hand it turns out quite cool. Im looking forward to your entries. Enjoy.

When it came to this photo challenge I tried to find images that evoked at least some of the sense. I searched through my photos and thought these images are appropriate. They were taken at a family picnic a couple of years ago. They celebrate the senses of sight and taste.

Adults and nymps of insects have two compound eyes and up to three simple eyes on their head. Insects with large compound eyes have a wide field of view of 360 degrees...


Lethal hug:



The bodies of insects are covered with sensitive hairs. These are most numerous and most sensitive on parts such as the antennae (feelers) and on the lower sections of the legs.





The taste receptors occur mainly in the mouth and on the mouthparts, the antennae, and the lower parts of the legs of many insects. Insects can literally taste with their feet!

SMELL:   The aroma of the sweet peas, we collected from the farm for our wedding, was lovely
